The best climate in the world

The climate in Tenerife is like an eternal spring and is characterised by a mild climate and similar temperatures all year round.

The climate of the Canary Islands and Tenerife is unique and special and is considered by many to be the place with the best climate in the world.

In the Canaries the summers are pleasant and the winters mild, an eternal spring of sunny days, blue skies and constant temperatures, which vary slightly throughout the year.

The secret of this unique and pleasant feeling of good weather lies in the cool winds, the Gulf Stream that passes close to the islands’ coasts and the warm effect of an anticyclone in the Azores during the winter season. Due to its unusual geographical location, a perfect balance is created that creates comfortable and constant conditions throughout the year.

Compared to the climate in Israel, the summer in the Canary Islands is less hot and less humid and therefore much more pleasant and there is no sticky Israeli summer feeling. Night temperatures are also lower and in many places there is no need for air conditioning even during the hot hours of the day. Winter is more like Israeli spring than winter. At sea level the temperature is almost always above 20 degrees and the sun usually shines.

Temperatures in the Canary Islands are usually mild and constant, so it always feels like spring. The monthly average in January is 18 degrees Celsius and in August it is 24 degrees Celsius, giving an annual average of 22 degrees Celsius. In addition, the difference between the minimum temperature at night and the maximum temperature during the day is only 7 degrees Celsius, which means that the fluctuations are very small.

Just to compare with temperatures elsewhere in Europe: in winter, the average on the islands and Tenerife is 18 degrees Celsius, in the central cities of southern Europe it is 8 degrees Celsius and in the central and northern European countries it is only 0 degrees.

In summer, the average temperature in the coastal area of the Canaries is 23 degrees Celsius, six degrees higher than in Central European cities. During the hottest hours of the day, the temperature only reaches 27 degrees Celsius, in contrast to the 37 degrees Celsius in some well-known tourist resorts in the Mediterranean and also in Israel.

In summer it hardly rains at all, and in winter it rains an average of three days a month.

The main tourist sites in the coastal area have 4,800 hours of daylight per year, which means that the Canary Islands have more hours of daylight than anywhere else in Europe. This phenomenon of long, sunny days is also due to the special geographical situation of the Canary Islands and the positive effect of the trade winds and anticyclone in the Azores.
